When rain falls, it releases a molecule in soil called geosmin, creating a strong aroma.

I can always smell when its about to rain

The soil is ready 

Holding its breath…

Until it starts to come down

Prickling my skin

And collecting on the leaves of every plant

We are all released

One day I will close my eyes one final time

I will breathe in the sweet smell of petrichor one final time

Ready to let go

Just waiting for release

Waiting for the rain
